All lensmasters were challenged to create a “favorite things” lens with the earnings going to a favorite charity. His theory is that if all lensmaster created a new lens pointed at a single charity, it would have an […]
Opening a link in a new window? I had no idea …
0 Comments Published August 21st, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Law Office Ideas(t) , Squidoo(t) , Internet(t) , expert web sites(t) , Swicki(t) , Web2.0(t)When I got more involved in blogging and this web2.0 stuff (Squidoo, HubPages, Swicki, etc.), I learned how to open links in a new window (the trusty target=”_blank” code) and have pretty much used it wherever I had a link and could add the code. It seems I’ve been a bad boy!
I did it because […]
Swicki, now I’m in the search engine business …
0 Comments Published August 19th, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Squidoo(t) , Internet(t) , HubPages(t) , expert web sites(t) , Swicki(t) , Web2.0(t)I’ve been playing with Swicki by Eurekster, which is in beta test. With Swicki, you create a search engine and focus it on a topic. In theory you can train it yourself, and also inform it by adding user searchers experiences. You put the code for the Swicki engine on your site, and encourage others […]
Did Ben Franklin invent the Internet?
0 Comments Published August 7th, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Benjamin Franklin(t) , Reading(t) , Internet(t) , expert web sites(t) , Recommendations(t)I just finished reading, Benjamin Franklin: An American Life by Walter Isaacson. I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the book. There are many things that fascinate me about the man, but his general cleverness and adaptability got me thinking about how his approach and style would overlay with today’s world. I think he would take all […]

Confused or not, check it out at my new lens - HubPages.
If you are interested in getting into the HubPages beta test as an author and build your own […]
HubPages, early days, goes into closed beta
0 Comments Published July 31st, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Computer systems(t) , Squidoo(t) , Internet(t) , HubPages(t)HubPages sent me an invitation to participate in their closed beta testing. The site is only open to members as they get some user testing done and build a platform of hubs before opening the portals to the public. I joined and built a couple of HubPages. I can’t offer a link to my HubPages, […]
Oh no, not another web site!
0 Comments Published July 23rd, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Computer systems(t) , Squidoo(t) , Internet(t)I decided to experiment with webrings and see how they could impact Squidoo traffic. I joined an OTR webring for my OTR Squidoo lenses, and found a site (Zootradio) that had an ad for the beta of Microsoft’s new service, Office Live. No it is not, as the name implies, an on line version of […]
Benjamin Franklin arrives at Squidoo
0 Comments Published June 19th, 2006 in Blogging(t) , Squidoo(t) , Benjamin Franklin(t) , Reading(t)One of the books that inspired me as a youth was Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography. As a kid, I found reading it to be slow going, and raised my eyebrows at some of his moral posturing. But I was impressed by the drive and accomplishment of the man.
I’ve been attracted to any story, article, web site […]

Hydroculture - How to grow houseplants in water
The pictures today are placeholders that I’ve copied from the web. Will replace them with personal hydro plant pics over the next few days.
A Squidoo lens focused on the HOA (Homeowners Association)
0 Comments Published June 5th, 2006 in Blogging(t) , HOA(t) , Squidoo(t)I’m intrigued by the idea of lenses. They are, in effect, a summary type of web site. A lens is a single web page. Each lens focuses on a specific topic. It might be an introduction to that topic, and as such, a great place to start your research. The lens might a person experience […]
You can’t see turning points up close. You need the passage of time, and accumulated experiences to give you the perspective required to look back and recognize turning points. Not every important life event is a turning point. No, a door must open and by going through that door your life is changed. You may […]
I began my blogging experiment with a few Blogspots (Blogger), started a MySpaces (MSN) page, and, briefly, flirted with Yahoo 360. Now it’s WordPress’ turn. Hopefully the categories, customization and ad possibilities will make it a good choice. Any suggestions?
